Simon was invented by Ralph H. Baer and Howard J. Morrison and released in 1978. The game device has four large buttons in different colors that light up and produce a tone when pressed. The device lights up one or more buttons in a sequence, and the player has to replicate the sequence, which progressively gets more complex as more buttons are added to the sequence. Morrison and Baer modeled the game after an Atari arcade game titled “Touch Me,” but made it more appealing with colored buttons and harmonic tones. Milton Bradley produced the game until it was acquired by Hasbro in 1984; currently, Hasbro produces the game.
