The Bloom Report
It's no secret that toys and games are not just for kids anymore. Over the past few years, there has been a surge in the Kidult industry, with adults indulging in toys, games, and other forms of play. But what is driving this trend? I'll overview, in my opinion, some of the reasons behind the rise of the Kidult industry and why adults still love to play like kids.
Nostalgia: Many adults grew up playing with toys and games that they loved as kids, and the Kidult industry taps into this sense of nostalgia. Revisiting these childhood favorites can be a comforting and enjoyable experience, and it allows adults to reconnect with their inner child.
Stress Relief: Play has been shown to be an effective stress reliever for both kids and adults. Playing with toys and games can be a way for adults to escape from the pressures of daily life and unwind.
Social Interaction: Many adult-oriented toys and games are designed for group play, making them a great way for adults to connect with friends and family. Social interaction is important for mental health and well-being, and playing together can strengthen relationships.
Creativity and Imagination: Playing with toys and games can also stimulate creativity and imagination. Adult-oriented toys like LEGO sets and coloring books can be a fun and engaging way to tap into this creativity and explore new ideas.
Sense of Playfulness: As we grow older, we often lose touch with our sense of playfulness. Playing with toys and games can be a way to reconnect with this sense of fun and enjoyment.
So overall I'd say the rise of the Kidult industry is really a reflection of our innate desire to play and have fun, regardless of what age we are. The nostalgia, stress relief, social interaction, creativity and imagination, and sense of playfulness that comes with playing with toys and games are just some of the reasons why adults continue to enjoy playing like kids. And it's not a bad thing. So why not indulge your inner child and revisit some of those classic Kidult toys and games? What are the top three Kidult games for you?
