This month, What is the Sentence? (WITS) educational board game launched their crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in hopes to raise their next round of funding to further educational gaming and learning initiatives. Teachers and educators are obsessed with the game, claiming that teachers who have used the game in classes have seen a substantial increase in learning efforts from their students. By using games to further teaching goals, it’s proven to increase student participation, foster social and emotional learning, and motivate students to take risks, while also bolstering comprehension and mathematical skills.
Those looking to get their hands on a game can do so now on the WITS Indigogo page by donating a minimum of $25. There are various donation levels that will allow users to receive specialized limited edition games, custom games for pets and friends, and even a round trip flight and stay for two to Las Vegas.
What Is the Sentence? (WITS) has been developed around the notion that fun and education go hand in hand. When people are actively engaged in gameplay, they experience better skill mastery and retention as they have fun discovering relationships in their learning. Our game features dynamic, interactive gameplay among players of all ages, keeping them engaged and helping them make connections between grammar skills and everyday spoken language. Players gain new language skills, practice skills they’ve learned, and enhance their skills through listening to the language of other players. Through the fun of gameplay, learning becomes active in their lives. Take a look at the example above on how to play the game.
