The Magic 8 Ball is a fortune-telling novelty toy invented by Albert C. Carter and Abe Bookman and released in 1950. The toy is designed to look like an 8 ball and has a clear panel on the bottom. Through the panel, a plastic 20-sided die can be seen floating in dark liquid. Each side of the die has a response printed on it. The owner can ask a question, then flip the Magic 8 Ball over to reveal a response. This toy is currently produced by Mattel.
