Moon Sonder™ Has Designed a Delightful Combination of a Soft Comforting Hug and Fun Superhero Play In Wearable Blankets
Keego Harbor, MI (July 23, 2024) – “Cool Aunt” Karen Bonnici invented Super Blankys® homemade blankets with sleeves as gifts for her young nieces and nephew. She’s always been a homemade gift maker but the outsized reaction to these gifts helped her see she just might have the seed for a successful entrepreneurial idea. While the first iteration wasn’t perfect, the wearable blankets were beloved and she learned a lot from watching the kids wear and play with them. She designed the sleeved wearable blankets to resemble a cape and had the brainstorm to patent and trademark Super Blankys, now available on Amazon in four styles.
Her ingenuity is all the more remarkable because she is a breast cancer survivor who endured a brutal treatment program during the pandemic while launching her business, Moon Sonder™. It makes sense that she would create a product like Super Blanky, which not only uplifts children by reinforcing that they are their own superheroes but also offers them a cozy soft hug to help build resilience and learn to tackle new challenges.
“When I read reviews from parents whose hearts are filled with gratitude for how our Super Blankys help their children through hard times and bring a smile to them, honestly it makes me emotional,” said Bonnici, founder of Moon Sonder. Sonder is a neologism meaning the realization that each passerby has a life as complex as yours.
Super Blanky is $29.99 and is designed for children ages three and up. What makes them truly special is their patented pocket sleeves. Kids simply slide their arms into the sleeves, transforming the super-soft blanket into wearable fun. The cozy and comfy blankets are ideal for dress-up play and come with a coordinating mask to enhance make-believe play. Moreover, Super Blanky’s versatility shines through its use as a snuggly hug, a lap blanket during reading sessions, a cozy nap wrap, or as a throw blanket, perfect for everyday comfort. Whether activating superhero mode or reinforcing positive messages that they are loved, capable, and can overcome challenges, Super Blanky is the multifunctional solution for every child’s needs.
Both of these aspects meet the directives of MESH (Mental Emotional Social Health), a new trend from non-profit MESHHelps.org, which is sharing the understanding that kids today are troubled and facing challenges that products like Super Blanky can help with.
Super Blanky comes in four styles and is available for $29.99 on Amazon:
Fairybloom—this purple butterfly themed Blanky has a butterfly-themed mask to help kids’ imaginations take flight.
Starpow—this bright blue Blanky with hot pink star pattern is sure to bright any child’s day. The coordinating mask features a lightning bolt to help empower a child’s dreams of greatness.
T-Rex—This classic Blanky and coordinating prehistoric mask will guide children on an imaginative play journey of giant proportions.
Zapzing—it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a super duper kid with this royal blue superhero cape themed Blanky. Lightning bolts connote power and empowerment, and donning this Blanky is sure to supercharge a child’s self-confidence.
They can easily be machine-washed in cold water, and with a cool dryer cycle, they’ll emerge fluffy and soft.
Moon Sonder also makes patented wearable blankets with sleeves for adults under its Dreamighty® brand.
Founder Karen Bonnici handcrafted superhero blankets for her nieces and nephews, who absolutely loved them. After redesigning the blankets, filing patent applications, and creating adult and teen sizes for her own children, she showcased her new invention at a local craft fair. The tremendous response she received led her to begin selling to family, friends, and at vendor shows. Eventually, Karen discovered the world of licensing and signed a deal with a fantastic partner, leading to the launch of Super Blanky® for kids in Target® stores across the country. She founded Dreamighty® and Super Blanky® products by Moon Sonder™ with a mission to spread warmth, happiness, and the belief that we can achieve anything we set our minds to.
